Act one. Airelyn enters stage left, just behind a clump of trees. It's time, I guess, she told herself. She'd said more or less the same thing for a few days now, trying to convince herself that she should give the whole "society" thing another try. It wasn't like she didn't like other horses -- no, she was just usually happier by herself. Of course, that got old in a hurry when she realized that she no longer had anyone to talk to when she finally did feel like being the center of attention, and that just wouldn't do. Grudgingly the red dun mare had made her way to Scarlet Meadows, knowing that if there was anywhere she was going to find company, she would find it there. She pushed her pink nose past the tips of some long blades of grass and yanked them up out of the ground near the bottom. She munched as she walked, the sun warming her back. There was a thin birch tree standing alone, a little ways apart from a larger thicket. She grinned, heading straight for it. If that doesn't say "loner", I don't know what does.
